The principles have all driven the architect’s approach to create a tranquil natural interior in harmony with our leafy Private Terrace and Hyde Park neighbour in understated elegance.
We are located in a tree lined street in the achingly cool neighbourhood of cosmopolitan Bayswater in central London. Close to Notting Hill, the Oxford Street shops and only steps from Hyde Park for an early morning run or casual walk in 350 acres of the greatest Royal Park. Guests may even be tempted to take a dip in the Serpentine during their stay.
The new interior scheme has sympathetically built on Anoushka Hemple’s temple of black and white, crisp lines, sharp angles and sculptural forms by elevating and softening the spaces welcoming a sense of nature and warmth. The introduction of Wabi-sabi ideals has created an oasis in the centre of an urban city through materials that express crafted processes and organic forms, threading natural colours subtly throughout and enhancing the space with intimate lighting. A soothing minimal oasis at the epicentre of all urban London has to offer has evolved.

Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Winnie the Pooh with Fortnum and Mason. Did you know, on their Piccadilly rooftop since 2008, there are four beehives standing at six feet high, almost twice the height of a normal beehive, each with a distinct triumphal arch entrance designed in a different architectural style – Roman, Mughal, Chinese and Gothic. Now you can see bee installations on the front of the world famous London store and in St Pancras International. Over the last 15 years the bees have been busy producing honey so delicious that there’s a waiting list for their produce. The honey, called simply Piccadilly London Honey, varies from year to year, depending on the flora available to the bees journeys through London’s nearby parks and gardens, including Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, Hyde Park and Green Park. Last seen buzzing over the famous facade of our Piccadilly store and our beehive installation at St. Pancras International, Fortnum & Mason are delighted to be auctioning a selection of oversized golden bees to raise money for the British Beekeepers Association. The Rubber Duck Race in aid of local charity Cosmic (Children of St Mary’s Intensive Care) takes place in Paddington Basin on Thursday 30 July at 12 noon.
