Making the most of the positives of the recent enforced break in business has enabled reflection on the issues that increasingly matter to us.
The benefits of making connection with nature, simplicity, and the importance of being aware of our surroundings and not being overwhelmed have been instrumental in the re-launch of our iconic 80-bedroom boutique hotel. Our vision has been to create a serene space to encourage a balance between relaxation, contemplation and flow state to achieve the ultimate guest stay. A soothing minimal oasis at the epicentre of all urban London has to offer.
Grounded in the nature and Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-sabi which values the wisdom of ‘a world view that values tranquillity, harmony, beauty and the transient imperfection centred on the rhythm of nature’, guided the re styling of the hotel. Taking inspiration from the pleached beech trees of the hotel’s Private Terrace, leafy neighbourhood of Bayswater and magnificent Hyde Park just steps away, the hotel’s interior design continues to focus on the minimal, romanticises nature and the beauty prevalent in the impermanent changing seasons.
The new interior scheme has sympathetically built on the temple created by Anoushka Hemple of black and white with crisp lines, sharp angles and sculptural forms by elevating and softening the spaces welcoming a sense of nature and warmth. The introduction of Wabi-sabi ideals creates the feeling of and peace. The use of natural materials express a crafted process focusing on organic forms and threading earthy colours subtly throughout, enhanced with intimate lighting.
For our younger guests, world learning environmental books and board games are available are available during their stay. Dogs are welcomed with bamboo food and drink bowls as well as a comfy bed with a filling of recycled plastic, as well as lots of tasty treats.
